BUILDING SUCCESSFUL BOOSTER CLUBS
This
month my article is a continuation of the last of
four topics related to addressing the four greatest
areas that challenge booster clubs.
Booster
Club Challenge #4: (Fundraising part II)
Getting
Started
Although fundraising may be a necessity, it’s
important to remember that the success of your fundraising
campaign will start well before you ever make the
first sale. Creativity will play a key role in the
success of your fundraising campaign. Incorporating
a unique element into an ordinary fundraiser can increase
the results and insure your group has a better chance
to reach its goal. Creative ideas are good cash generators.
Example:
Let’s assume your group has chosen to conduct
a car wash with the goal of raising $2,500. For most
groups this means simply finding a location and then
waving frantically at passing cars on the day of the
fundraiser, hoping to gain sufficient takers. Incorporating
a small amount of creativity can not only insure your
fundraiser is a success, even if it rains, it can
also increase your revenue generations dramatically.
The
Creative Element: A minimum of 5 days in advance of
the fundraiser tickets are printed and each member
is asked to sell a minimum of 25 tickets, good for
1 car wash on the designated day of the event (assuming
a group of 20 X 25 tickets at $5 each) and you have
just insured your minimum goal of $2,500. Now that
we have guaranteed our success, let’s look to
increase the revenue by including a few more creative
ideas. Idea #2: Information; on the day of your event
you will get pre-sold ticket holders and those just
driving by who need a car wash. In both cases this
is the perfect time to thank them for their support
and let them know WHO and WHY.
Who
are you? Print up flyers that you hand out to ever
car. The fly needs to incorporate two components:
#1: It needs to tell the person who you are. Let the
person know what your group does, who you support.
#2:
Why you are conducting the fundraiser. Let them know
why you are fundraising and how there support will
help you reach your goal. Last, don’t forget
to thank them by having as many people as possible
in your group sign the sheet.
I
wish each of you the best
of success.
Happy Boostering!

BOOSTER |
|

Dear Booster,
I am the treasurer of my daughters cross country booster
club and I am hoping you can help clarify a concern
that no one at our school can answer. The question
is – when I took over the position as treasurer
I found that our bank account was established using
the schools information and I am concerned that the
booster club should be using its own company registration.
Should I be concerned?
Doris T.
New Haven, CT
Dear
Doris,
Yes. The typical booster club should have established
at a minimum the following;
State
and federal registration for the organization, which
includes the filing of articles, by-laws and receiving
a company EIN (Employer Identification Number). Within
the by-laws it should have set out the procedures
for a corporate resolution to open a bank account.
If your group has not completed these steps and you
are just operating a bank account under your school
be very careful. This is not correct.
Send
us your Dear Booster.... article and we will select
one each month to share with the readers of Booster
Trends. To submit your email send to: dearbooster@boostercentral.org.

Jennifer's Scented Candles
Jennifer’s Super Scented
Candles
is located in Dover, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., on the
banks of the Conewago creek.
Our candles have a beautiful, creamy appearance that
goes with any décor. With a longer burn-time
than other brands (achieved by adding a special hardener
to the wax, which slows the burning process), Jennifer’s
Candles are truly a bargain for the serious
candle-burning customer. You can expect approximately
100 hours of burn-time with my small candles, and
about 175 hours with the large candles. This is what
makes my candles unique.
Fund-raising has been a vital part of our business
since the beginning. Over the years since the founding
of Jennifer’s Super Scented
Candles, we have helped countless organizations
to raise money for their cause. Because our products
are 100% hand-made, high-quality candles, they sell
themselves – so you and your organization don’t
have to. The profit margin to organizations that sell
Jennifer’s Candles
can be as high as 100% for each candle sold.
Our fund-raising product is the small (16 oz.) candle.
Your non-profit organization will receive the wholesale
price for each candle sold, with discounts available
to organizations that place large orders. Contact
our office for more details.
Contact our office at 717-292-7252 for more information,
or e-mail us at Jennifer@jenniferscandles.com.
We will be happy to help YOUR organization reach its
goal.
