EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS COLUMN |

MEETING THE CHALLENGE
How
does an organization truly know
if its effectively meeting the
needs of its clients, members
or marketplace? For many it's
as simple as taking a fact finding
survey and for others it's a matter
of poling the marketplace.
Like
all organizations the NBCA is
constantly assessing our position
and evaluating the degree to which
we are effectively penetrating
the market. The challenge we constantly
face is one that I would like
to call your attention and support
to helping us overcome.
The
NBCA currently supports a growing
number of booster clubs and extra-curricular
programs in virtually every state
across the nation. But for every
booster club we support their
is 2, 3 maybe even 10 times that
number who have absolutely no
idea that they can access the
support and resources from the
NBCA. These are clubs and programs
who are struggling with some of
the most basic organizational
tasks and who have absolutely
no idea that there is help waiting
for them on the other side of
the fence.
This
year the NBCA is turning a great
deal of our attention on educating
and training individuals who can
assist us in supporting booster
clubs and extra-curricular programs
in virtually every community around
the country. As we expand this
group of people we will continue
to gain ground on our goal, but
today we would like to ask for
your support.
Our
request is straightforward. I
would like to ask that you take
just 2 minutes of your time and
forward this newsletter to someone
involved with a booster club.
It could be a friend at another
school or a parent you work with
who has kids involved in extra-curricular
programs. Just forward them a
copy of this newsletter and let
them know that the NBCA is a national
organization committed to helping
booster clubs and extra-curricular
programs succeed. We aren't asking
that you sign them up and we aren't
asking that you make any pitch
for having them become a member.
All we ask is that you help them
to become aware of the fact that
there is an organization dedicated
to helping booster clubs succeed.
If
we can count on each of you to
forward this email to just one
person we will expand our readership
of this newsletter alone to over
150,000 people. So I thank you
in advance for helping us make
2005 the biggest growth year in
the NBCA's history. We all win
when we help each other support
the continuation of extra-curricular
programs.
I
wish each of you the best of success.
Happy Boostering!

OF THE MONTH |

BLUE HERON
Blue
Heron Ent., Inc.
opened for business in Delaware
in 1995, producing community based
discount cards. The owner had
previously worked with a California
based discount card company, so
he was familiar with the business.
Blue Heron
has since expanded its scope to
nationwide coverage with the assistance
of the internet.
Our primary clients have always
been school teams and bands, so
we have worked with booster clubs
all along. We were unaware that
a national organization of booster
clubs existed until we were contacted
by the NBCA.
Customer service is our goal.
As a discount card operator, we
must earn respect and trust from
the retailers that we deal with
on a daily basis, in order to
secure quality offers for our
booster club clients. We will
offer the booster clubs a quality
product at a competitive price,
and we attempt to meet deadlines
whenever possible.
In most instances, our company
will contact the retailers for
the card offers. However, if the
booster club wants to save even
more money, we will allow the
booster club to sign up their
own retail offers.
As an incentive to booster clubs
that are members of the NBCA,
we will offer a 10% discount on
any purchase of 600 cards or more.

This

fourth a challenge to some of
our business members. That challenge
was to find a charity within their
community that they would support.
We would like to take this opportunity
to recognize two business members
who were missed in last months
issue and who accepted our request
and took the opportunity to support
charities within their communities.

CAUSEKEEPERS
When
and how started? CauseKeepers
was founded at the
start of 2004 to specifically
work with fundraising groups
and non-profits. Samuel
Hicks and Donnie Lafferty
took printing and promotion
to a new level through online
service and marketing while
maintaining excellence in
manufacturing. CauseKeepers
is a printer and promoter
that effectively follow
the lead of both small and
large groups and organizations.
Our custom car magnets and
debossed silicone bracelets
are just a couple of products
that have been used to raise
millions of dollars for
teams across the world.
It is not just the product
but the promotion through
customization and packaging
that makes us different.
We are a small company that
packs a punch for fundraisers
while providing friendly
personal service to each
club or organization we
work with.
Why
did CauseKeepers
get involved with the association?
We simply want to reach
out to the real movers and
shakers of America. Those
of you who are determined
to make a difference on
your local levels. Our success
with the March of Dimes
and Relay For Life along
with Susan G. Komen made
us well known in the national
fundraising community. Many
wanted us to help them at
area rallies and hoped that
others could use CauseKeepers
for their fundraising. We
love kids and celebrate
the good that kids are involved
in. Our motto is Make Your
Passion Known and Boosters
Clubs are passionate about
kids and community programs.
We prefer working with people
who choose to make a difference!
Our
goal in working with clubs
is to follow their lead
to take fundraising to a
new level of effectiveness.
Our fresh ideas and professional
presence have been a part
of millions of dollars raised
in just one year. We are
simply easy to work with
and we operate with integrity.
Our goal in working with
clubs is to create fundraising
success stories. We partner
up with our customers and
clients to exceed everyone's
expectations.
We
understand that funds are
tight and maximize efforts
with the smallest of budgets.
Choosing
CauseKeepers
over competitors. CauseKeepers
has become a trusted name
in fundraising. We listen
carefully to our customers
and get desired results
with no gimmicks. Many promise
painless free fundraising.
We provide fresh ideas and
professionalism and believe
that the best way to raise
funds is to effectively
Make Your Passion Known.
If you stand for a credible
cause and believe in it
then you are on your way
to making a difference.
CauseKeepers
will take your cause and
professionally promote it
through custom printing
that is affordable on any
budget. We follow your lead.
The
growth for clubs in the
future is limitless. People
will give to causes when
they believe their funds
will be properly used to
make a difference. Who you
deal with is extremely important.
The youth of America is
the future of America. Americans
will invest in our children
and will continue to lean
on CauseKeepers
as a trusted name in fundraising.
CauseKeepers
is dedicated to helping
the youth of America. We
will continue to be a leader
in promoting youth rallies,
clubs, and fundraising by
providing custom printed
promotional's to both small
and large groups. We will
help those that are passionate
about the youth of America.

YOURSELF FUNDRAISER OF THE
MONTH |
|
Balloon-O-Grams
Basically, a balloon-o-gram
is a telegram with balloons.
This youth group ran this
fundraiser for many months
so that it included many
holidays (Mothers Day, Fathers
Day, etc.). Anyone could
order a balloon-o-gram at
anytime. The deliverer would
take a bunch of five to
six balloons, a card and
sing a song for the receiver.
The cost for the balloon-o-gram
was on a donation basis.
A
telegram with balloons.
A message with each balloon,
or you could even have a
color code: Red is love,
Blue is Get Well Soon, Yellow
is Friendship, Green …
well, I think of M&Ms,
but maybe something calmer
like Thinking of You or
Just Saying Hello. Make
up your own. Run this fundraiser
for a while, including holidays.
From February to Memorial
Day would give you Valentine's
Day, Easter, and Mothers
Day, as well as birthdays.
You need a delivery person
who knows the area. A real
estate agent is great! The
driver takes a bunch of
balloons, a greeting card,
and maybe sings a happy
song.
Variation:
Lollipop Bouquets containing
five lollipops: Charms,
Tootsie Pops, Valentine
Suckers, etc. Tissue paper
is used to make the lollipops
look like flowers. They
are held together with a
rubber band and a gift tag
is attached. Sell these
bouquets by pre-order in
the morning and during the
lunches. They are purchased
as gifts and are delivered
on Valentine's Day. Great
for school groups.

T.O.M.S.
- THE ONE MINUTE SHOPPER
If you have anyone
in your family that suffers
from diabetes, struggles
with weight problems, or
has difficulty meat shopping,
here is an answer to make
life easier.
We
have developed the newest,
easiest and most sensible
way to buy meat and fish
in America through The One
Minute Shopper ("T.O.M.S.").
We are different! It is
true that shoppers of meat
and fish look at cost per
pound, color of the meat,
marbling and ask themselves,
"Will this piece of
meat feed my family?"
The
One Minute Shopper has provided
a better way of purchasing
premium quality meats, properly
portioned for convenience
and health, with less waste.
For truly sensible consumption,
4-5 oz. of meat or fish
per portion is all that
is needed for better health
and weight control. The
One Minute Shopper takes
the guesswork out of meat
purchasing with individual
portioned cuts of meat and
fish. All the meat and fish
products are hand cut into
proper size portions, vacuum
wrapped for safety and cleanliness
and flash frozen to 190
degrees below zero to preserve
its delicious flavor. The
One Minute Shopper will
make your life easier because
we deliver your order right
to your home. It takes about
one minute to order a program
online and its delivered
to your home or office in
about a week or less.
Ten
percent of the delivered
cost of each order goes
to your school or club to
help raise funds through
the National Booster Club
Association.
Try
any order.... you will love
it. The One Minute Shopper
is different, but in the
long run you should save
dollars feeding your family
and help your school, club
and kids at the same time.

| DEAR
BOOSTER |
|
Dear
Booster,
I am a freshmen mom and
I need a basic overview
of what exactly a booster
club is supposed to be doing.
I have attended meetings
and there is a lot of talk
but not a lot of action?
Thank you
Sincerely, Tammy C.
Dear
Tammy,
If you have attended a few
booster meetings and still
are somewhat lost as to
what the booster club does
it sounds like your booster
club may need some help
itself.
Let's
set the record straight
so you are clear on what
a booster club is. A booster
club is a parent organization
developed to provide support
for a given extra-curricular
program. Support can range
from raising funds for covering
program expenses to volunteering
time for fixing a ball field,
driving the team to camp
or providing the man power
for a school event. The
booster club is an invaluable
asset that helps to insure
the continued success of
a program.
Send
us your Dear Booster....
article and we will select
one each month to share
with the readers of Booster
Trends. To submit your email
send to: dearbooster@boosterclubs.org.

| FAST
FACT |
|
|
Fact of the month-
Sooner or later, those who win
are those who think they can.
The cards you're dealt in life
are less important than the way
you play them. Every day you face
a new deck and new cards. Carve
out a niche for yourself in your
imagined future. Begin immediately
to think and feel yourself as
successful. To achieve your vision
in life, you need to project your
future. Focus on your future,
not your past. Prepare for your
future, don't live in the past.
Relish your good memories and
use any bad ones as lessons in
life. Think of the elation, the
satisfaction, the joy you'll feel
when you've achieved your objective.
Carry these ecstatic feelings
with you every day and they will
bring your envisioned future into
view.
Success
is waiting for you.
Quote
of the month-
"The greatest mistake you
can make in life is to be continually
fearing you will make one."
