BUTTERING UP THE PRINCIPAL AND
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Want
a more peaceful relationship with your principal and
athletic director? Take a few minutes this year to publicly
thank your principal and your athletic director for
supporting your organization and your groups efforts.
We
all know from experience that a supportive administrator
will make a powerful difference for your booster club
and your program. Whether it's an email or a short article
in your newsletter, a gift or a letter to to the school
district office take the time to let others know how
much you appreciate there support. Never take their
support for granted!
And
if your like a large number of booster clubs who have
struggled this year with getting that support, all the
more reason to do what you can now to set a positive
tone for the remainder of the year as well as the expansion
and growth of next year. Yes, you may have to work hard
to find and focus on the positives, but it's the small
steps that can put your relationship on a better path
for the long term.
Happy
Boostering
Sincerely,

Steve M. Beden

Dear
Booster,
I was recently elected as the fundraising director for
our booster club and the group is talking that we need
to conduct a fundraiser. When can booster groups begin
fundraising activities?
Jacqui
L.
Simpkin M.S. Boosters
Dear
Jacqui,
Its
not uncommon to find booster clubs fundraising throughout
the year depending upon the need of the group and the
involvement of the members. The
process should include the development of a fundraising
committee, review of budgetary needs as well as a historical
review of past fundraising activities. NABCA works with
most of the leading fundraising programs offered and
can help to minimize the work involved in determing
what fundraiser would be best for your group. Visit
the following link (click
here) where you can access a fundraising questionnaire,
which will help to guide your group on selecting the
corret fundraiser.
Send
us your Dear Booster.... article and we will select
one each month to share with the readers of Booster
Trends. To submit your email send to: dearbooster@boostercentral.org.

TIPS |

Goal
Setting:
Goal Setting is something that should be included in
every persons New Year resolutions. If you want to succeed
in your New Year resolutions follow this simple process.
Break your goal down into a single, achievable step
you can take. Focus your efforts, consistently for 30
days. Make sure you commit to your goal every day to
make your goal happen in just 30 days. By taking just
one step at a time, you create momentum and your momentum
turns into a habit, one that will help you to reach
your goal.
Booster Basic:
- Allow input and suggestions from all parents and supporters.
This doesn’t mean you have to implement them,
just let them have their input like you.
- Keep in contact with old booster club officers, members,
and alumni.
- Develop multiple levels of membership.

referring the association’s services to booster
clubs, teams and businesses. This is an outstanding
opportunity for any person who understands the role
that extracurricular activities play in shaping our
society. If you would like to register and become an

services to businesses, schools and parent organizations.
This is an outstanding opportunity for any person who
understands the role that extracurricular activities
play in shaping our society. If

Photos Contest
Use
photo's of babies, dogs, etc. --- anything that relates
to your organization. Entrants submit a photo (specify
maximum size accepted), and may also submit a 3x5
card with a few sentences as a description to create
more interest. Photos are mounted on a display board
or inside a sponsoring merchant's window at a sidewalk
fundraising festival. Each photo is numbered and a
jar is numbered for each photo for votes. Votes are
made with coins, dollar bills, or checks (made payable
to your organization). The picture with the most "votes"
(total money collected) wins a prize.
Prizes can be solicited from sponsors. The "votes"
(money) goes to your organization. The most "votes"
are obtained from grandmothers/fathers and aunts/uncles,
so this fundraising idea works best in a smaller community
or at an event with relatives attending.
