THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS COLUMN |
Facing
the Challenge
Burnout,
disappointment, ego, favoritism, lack of
funds, politics, no support. Each year the
majority of all booster clubs will face
these same challenges as well as many more.
Organizing your club so that it can overcome
these issues is vital to a clubs health
and success. Just like the young men and
women who your group support, your booster
club needs a good coach or advisor to help
it overcome the challenges.
I
would like to invite each of you to take
a minute and visit the BoosterWorld Internet
portal where you can submit the club questionnaire,
which will give our staff of highly skilled
and talented advisors the chance to help
your club avoid the challenges and overcome
the obstacles.
You
don't have to be a member of the association
to take advantage of this offer so you have
no excuse for not taking advantage of this
opportunity. Here is the online link: http://boosterclubs.org/club_questionnaire.shtml
I
welcome your emails and look forward to
assisting you in success.

NEW VENDORS |
| We
would like to welcome the following
companies to the National Booster
Club Association:
ATEC
(Athletic Training Equipment Co.)
- The name says it all. They have
all kinds of training equipment and
carry only the best. Check them out
in Vendor Showcase.
Permaline
Sports, Inc.
- This Company comes to us from Canada
and we welcome them with great excitement.
The company puts permanent lines on
football, soccer, baseball, etc.,
fields. It saves the school money
by not having to do the lines every
game.
Pecan
Producers International
- Wonderful pecans!!!!! They will
send them anywhere and have a good
fundraising program to help your booster
club earn great bucks.
Pride
Distributors
- Did you ever wonder what it would
be like to play a game that had businesses
and people from your area on the board?
Pride Distributors has a great game
called Townopoly that does just that.
Get in touch with them and see what
it’s all about.
Sports
and Life –
They have a program of nutrition and
wellness for athletes to keep not
only their bodies in good shape, but
their minds too.
Village
Candles –
Candles seem to be “the” thing this
year and candles from Village Candles
are definitely great. The candles
are soy based and last for a long
time. Check them out, see if you can’t
use some candles.
The
Sports Manager –
Has software to track game statistics
and analyze them. They also have websites
you can set up.
Tendersticks
–
There is nothing better than being
able to eat a stick of meat while
you are at a game yelling your head
off. They give you energy and are
a healthy snack.
Waterboy
Sports –
The hydration equipment needed on
the sidelines of some games is very
expensive. Waterboy Sports will rent
the equipment to you, or sell you
some. Helps with the hydration of
the team and dispensing of liquids
to drink.
Chef-co
Gourmet Fundraisers
–
Chef-co offers a variety of fundraising
items with Li’l Annie products. They
are very yummy things like cookies
and pizza.
Cut
In Stone –
What a wonderful idea. To have a wall
of stone with members names on them.
Eye
Benefits –
A discount eyewear source. The savings
are from 20 to 50%. Look it up. Saving
money is always a plus.
Nugigs
Institute –
Their program is called Attend and
Succeed. It is to help young people
stay in school and excel.
And
last be not least by any means:
The
One Minute Shopper
–
This program is one that can keep
on giving to your booster club for
years. TOMS sells frozen food that
is better than almost all of them
out there. There are proportions sized
for one meal. The meat is of the best
quality and the rest is just wonderful.
We are very excited about TOMS. Go
into their picture and their banner
and you will see why.
We
are excited to have each of them onboard
and look forward to the opportunity
of helping you become involved in
the tremendous products and services
each provides.
We
encourage you to visit each of them
on BoosterWorld
and check out the opportunities they
provide to support your organizations.

| DEAR
BOOSTER ..... |
Dear
Booster,
Our booster club can't seem to get any support
from the local businesses. We are in a fairly
small community and every single kid team
and group is constantly hitting the businesses
up for donations and support. Help!
Tom L.
West Jefferson, OH
Dear Tom,
Every business wants
to support those who also support them.
Instead of contacting the local businesses
like every other organization, remember
that they are more than willing to help
your club if you can show them how it will
help their business. I hate to say it, but
it's the old "what's in it for me" philosophy.
The staff with the NBCA are experts on helping
to provide varied solutions that will gain
their interest. Here is a simple example
that you may want to try.
Once
your club has determined a goal of how much
you are looking to raise, develop a list
of two or three company's from various categories,
like pizza shops, lube and oil, hair cutters,
etc. Put together a letter that explains
what your club is trying to raise money
for and how much you are trying to raise.
Include in the letter that you would like
to encourage your club supporters to visit
their business on their slowest day. Let
them know that you would like to offer some
form of special or discount to your club
supporters for patronizing their business
on the chosen night as well as earning a
percentage or donation to the club.
Identify
the need and the goal, then contact the
businesses with a win-win proposal. You
will find them to be more receptive and
eager to support your group. Most will even
donate more than they promise.
Send
us your Dear Booster.... article and we
will select one each month to share with
the readers of Booster Trends. To submit
your email send to: dearbooster@boosterclubs.org.

| Fact

Open your club activities to all parents,
including those who come to watch the games

on the team. By inviting them to become
an active part of your organization you
will increase your parent participation
and the resources available to your group.
New minds and faces stimulate activity!
