THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS COLUMN |
|
HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Our
mission of helping to insure the continuation
of all extra-curricular programs
by empowering the booster clubs that stand
behind each program requires that the NBCA
is able to help booster clubs in the smallest
communities as well as those in the larger
cities throughout the nation. With this
said I am taking time this month to dedicate
my column to bringing your attention and
focus towards helping us to expand the support
and guidance in your community.
It
wasn't too many years ago that we developed
our vision of helping to bring support,
guidance and training to every booster club
around the country. After years of hard
work and continual progress we were able
to set out a plan for accomplishing this
vision which included gaining the active
involvement from people like yourself who
have in the past or who currently involve
themselves in supporting extra-curricular
programs in communities around the nation.
Today we are moving forward to bring about
the realization and success of this goal
- support in every community around the
nation, and you have an ideal opportunity
to be a part of helping us create a positive
support system for the numerous booster
clubs and extra-curricular programs in your
community.
The
rewards for helping bring support and guidance
to the booster clubs in your community are
many. To start you will play a vital role
in helping the NBCA bring positive solutions
to local school administrators, coaches,
parents and booster supporters. I caution
you not to take this statement too lightly
because the real truth is that school districts
from virtually every state face some of
the toughest financial challenges in decades
and as a trained advisor you will become
a much needed asset that will offer alternative
solutions to cutbacks and eliminations of
extra-curricular programs. Next, you will
become a positive resource for helping booster
clubs to properly position themselves for
continued growth, something that currently
does not exist. In addition, you will develop
an opportunity for yourself that will allow
you the freedom of working in an environment
that is positive, motivating, financially
rewarding and will offer challenges traditionally
not found in most jobs. Most importantly
you will be rewarded with the knowledge
and awareness that you play a key role in
helping to insure the continuation of extra-curricular
programs for all kids in your community
by helping guide the booster clubs to a
position strength.
If
you or someone you know would like to play
a part in helping us bring support, training
and guidance to booster clubs in your community
I invite you to send me an email
today. Don't let the extra-curricular programs
and the booster clubs in your community
miss out simply because you didn't find
out more.
I
wish each of you the best of success.
Happy Boostering!

SportsCooler
is NEW and Exciting!
Fans
of all ages absolutely love the touch and
feel of our "SportsCooler
Line". These products are created with
the real look and feel of the very items
that drive each sport everyday.
SportsCooler
was introduced early 2003. We worked very
hard to make the coolers look as authentic
as the game balls used in each sport. This
was achieved by using the best materials
and workmanship in mind. Today we offer
Football, Soccer and Basketball Coolers
with Baseball, Tennis and Golf on the go.
We want to offer and exceptional product
backed up with great customer service. Our
goal is to offer schools and organizations
products that they are proud of representing
and can easily raise funds to support their
programs.
We
offer nationwide service. We got involved
with the NBCA because we wanted to reach
booster clubs and schools all over the country
with our popular products. Every school
has sports teams and we felt our products
were a perfect fit to have school or team
logos on the balls.
Our
bags are sold at $20 with $10 going towards
the schools. What a great way to show your
school spirit with your custom logo on a
Football, Basketball or Soccer ball. These
products represent the same sports we play
at school everyday. The sky is the limit
for SportsCooler,
everybody loves sports and what better way
to show your appreciation for your local
team or school. Our products bring the sport
to you!

YOURSELF FUNDRAISER OF THE MONTH |
|
Senior Slave Day
In a high school for a senior fund
raiser have the senior class auction
themselves off to an underclassman
for around $15. Each senior gets an
underclassman who can dictate what
they do for an entire day. The senior
has to carry the underclassman's books,
get them food at lunch, and the senior
has to wear whatever the underclassman
wants. This is a great fundraiser
that not only brings in money for
the senior class but brings together
the school, it's inevitable that you'll
get to know the person making you
wear a batman cape and beanie hat
for a day.

| DEAR
BOOSTER |
|
Dear
Booster,
We are trying
to start a booster club for the Steubenville
Tigers Football but we are are getting
flack from an organization The Steubenville
Community, Inc. that says we have
to abide by their bylaws and that
they should have all of our fundraising
money in their account. The SCI is
an non-profit organization that helps
provide activities in our area to
keep kids off the streets and involved
in activities. This group is saying
that the Steubenville Tigers Football
falls under their bylaws, but no where
in their bylaws do they mention this
football, it reads (athletics). We
as parents have not received any cooperation
from them and we want to start this
booster club to be able to help our
kids get certain things like new uniforms,
socks, helmets, etc. Can this organization
stop us from becoming a booster club?
Please let me know as soon as possible,
because we have to meet with the SCI
very soon to discuss what is going
to happen, they seem like they want
to have control over what we do and
how we raise money and that the money
should go into their account. Which
we do not agree.
Lori
W.
Steubenville Booster Club
Steubenville OH
Dear
Lori,
First
let's address the issue surrounding
your ability to start a booster club
to support the Steubenville Tigers
Football team. If your group wants
to establish your own booster club
then Yes - you can form your own booster
club and legally register it as a
corporation with your state corporation
commission. If you are associated
with a public or private school you
need to be aware of the policies and
procedures outlined by the school
district, but otherwise the SCI company
cannot prevent you from establishing
your own organization.
Now
let's address the issue of the SCI
mandating that you work under their
organization. Unless your group was
a part of the formation of SCI or
your group met with SCI and asked
to become a subsidiary or branch of
SCI (which had to have already happened)
then they cannot mandate that you
follow their rules, deposit your funds
into their account or conduct business
under their company. For them to mandate
this to your group is illegal. Now
let's turn this situation into a positive
one. If SCI, which it sounds like
they are seeking to help bring about
support to local activities designed
to keep kids off the streets then
their is a natural opportunity for
both organizations to work together
in the spirit of what they are seeking
to achieve. By combining your talents
and local contacts you can each benefit
in ways that will help support your
programs.
Send
us your Dear Booster.... article and
we will select one each month to share
with the readers of Booster Trends.
To submit your email send to: dearbooster@boosterclubs.org.
