THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS COLUMN

NABCA - Now supporting booster clubs throughout North America!

This month I would like to focus my article on the recent expansion of NABCA, the North American Booster Club Association and why now is the ideal time to get involved.

Over the years the booster club association has continued to expand its support for booster clubs and extracurricular programs throughout the United States. During this time the association has continued to receive a growing number of inquiries from club programs throughout Canada. This past summer the advisory committee met and discussed a plan for expanding the associations support to include booster clubs and extracurricular programs throughout North America. As most of you are aware, this past January the booster club association officially announced our North American expansion with the introduction of our new web portal - Booster Central. Inclusive in this expansion was the introduction of our new association logo and enhanced online services.

With the expansion of the booster association, the opportunities both for booster clubs, our business members and our national support network have grown dramatically. This presents a perfect opportunity and the perfect time to get involved with NABCA. If your booster club hasn't taken the opportunity to register and benefit from the wealth of discounts, resources and opportunities - now is the ideal time. I want to also encourage anyone who may be stepping down from active involvement with a booster club to consider becoming a local Area Coordinator. This is the ideal opportunity to help make a major difference in the success of the booster clubs and extracurricular programs within your community.

In an effort to help bring the highest level of support to the largest possible number of booster clubs and extracurricular programs, NABCA has also turned its attention towards

I wish each of you the best of success.
Happy Boostering!

DEAR BOOSTER

Dear Booster,
I was recently asked to take on the role of fundraising chair and to be honest I feel more than a bit overwhelmed. I am hoping you can give me some help and guidance because our booster club has never had a fundraising chair before.
Nancy K.
Tigers Booster Club

Dear Nancy,
Congratulations on accepting the position. Don’t let the position scare you because NABCA will help you through each step of the way as you help your group meet its fundraising needs.

Fundraising plays a very important role in the success of booster clubs, but it is also something that can be achieved through many different fundraising activities. Depending upon your groups status, needs, size and objectives, working together we can help make the job fun and rewarding.

Your new to the position so let’s assume you haven’t had a meeting to help establish a fundraising plan of action. This should be one of the first steps you take and also one that needs to be incorporated into your groups annual planning meeting. At your next planning meeting or even at your booster club meeting gather the following information:
1. What needs does your group have?
2. How many active members will be involved in helping your group reach its financial needs?
3. Establish your (realistic) goals and the timelines to achieve them.

After you have compiled the information get with the local NABCA Area Coordinator or contact the association and we will get you started on the path to fundraising success.

Send us your Dear Booster.... article and we will select one each month to share with the readers of Booster Trends. To submit your email send to: dearbooster@boostercentral.org.
