BOOSTER |

Dear Booster,
Hello,
How do I get a non-profit tax identification number?
I am trying to organize a booster club at our middle
school. I've asked others and no one has an answer.
I do hope that you will be able to guide me in the
right direction.
Thank you!
Debbie
North Carolina
Dear Debbie,
I am going to make a few assumptions as your email
didn't really give much details on the current status
of your cub.
I assume that you are trying to organize your club
and have not yet filed with the state corporation
commission.
First, let me clarify the issue of "non-profit"
so you have a clear understanding of what a non-profit
and a tax-exempt organization is.
The status of non-profit is issued by the state corporation
commissions. Being a non-profit does not mean you
are tax exempt (i.e. 501c3 status). To receive a federal
tax exempt status you will first need to register
with your state as a non-profit organization, then
when you are ready to seek your tax exempt status
you will need to submit your state charter, complete
the 8718 paper work and the 1023 paper work. Please
note; this paper work is pretty extensive and must
be completed correctly otherwise the IRS will return
it without your receiving the tax exempt status.
If my assumption that your group is just now organizing
is correct then here is the process for getting a
non-profit state registration.
You will need to download from your state corporation
commission website the papers to file for a non-profit
corporation. It will most likely also require that
you file with the paper work your articles of incorporation.
Check with your state to see if they also issue your
group a federal EIN at the time of registration. If
not then you will need to complete the federal paper
work and submit to receive your federal number.
If you need a sample of a typical articles of incorporation
or if you need any further guidance please don't hesitate
to let us know. I would also like to suggest that
your group take the opportunity to join NABCA where
you will find unlimited support covering all aspects
of building a successful club.
Sincerely,
Send
us your Dear Booster.... article and we will select
one each month to share with the readers of Booster
Trends. To submit your email send to: dearbooster@boostercentral.org.

COMMITTED TO HELPING BOOSTER CLUBS |

Great News! There
is going to be an exciting new opportunity for booster
clubs that offers a new fundraising program where
everybody wins.
The first winners will be the students, the parents,
the teachers, and the school itself. Then the volunteers
that make the Booster Clubs work will be winners with
packages of gourmet meats, plaques, and even vacations.
To be frank, there hasn’t been a lot of recognition
for the thousands of volunteers that have put in time
and effort to raise funds. In many parts of the country,
school budgets have been cut which effects sports
programs, cheerleading programs, school bands, orchestras
and many other extracurricular activities that require
funds that simply, in many cases, are not enough to
service all the needs of all the students. Either
the programs are cut, or parents must make up the
additional costs out of their own pockets. If they
are unable to do so, often the child doesn’t
participate. The good news is, however, thousands
of parents are willing to volunteer to help raise
funds.
The
One Minute Shopper (“T.O.M.S.”), is a
fundraising division of American Frozen Foods, Inc.,
a company with over forty years experience in the
processing and delivery of food products direct to
the consumer. Just imagine doing your meat shopping
every 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks in one minute, on line, or
by telephone and having it delivered to the destination
of your choice.
The
NABCA has been working with T.O.M.S. since the middle
of 2003 to develop a variety of gourmet meat packages
that simply replace those meats that you are already
buying and eating. These programs are convenient and
affordable with the price including delivery, unlike
most other catalogue meat companies. Just imagine
delicious mouth-watering top choice and prime beef
aged to perfection for 21 days. Aging of beef makes
it more flavorful and tender. All of the fish and
meat products are hand trimmed to eliminate waste,
vacuum packaged in a clear wrap, and flash frozen
at 40 degrees below zero. Most of the meat and fish
is packaged in individual portions of 4 – 5
ounces for healthy consumption and most of the packaging
contains the nutritional value and cooking instructions.
You will love the convenience of our clear wrap where
you can cut out one chop, steak, hamburger patty or
chicken breast for dinner without defrosting the whole
package. These meat products are shipped directly
to you to ensure a healthier, cleaner and safer product
than what you would normally purchase in a grocery
store or warehouse store. T.O.M.S. gives you a 100%
satisfaction guarantee on every one of their products
with a 1-800 number in case of any question or problem.
This service is extremely helpful to people that have
problems with weight and other health issues, particularly
diabetes and heart disease.
The
North American Booster Club is partnered with the
best and most convenient home food delivery service
in America and, best of all, it is also the most affordable
when you consider that the cost of the product includes
delivery to your home or office.
Once
families of students realize that the quality of the
meats are delicious, safe, convenient and affordable
and their child’s school will truly benefit,
we believe they will continue to reorder. We must
earn a families trust which will result in repeat
orders. T.O.M.S. brings you a fundraiser that is on
going. Your Boosters Club can earn continuous income
on each order week after week, month after month and
even, year after year. Most families prepare some
form of meat four to five times per week. Again, T.O.M.S.
food program is a replacement of products programs
where you are going to spend those dollars for meat
somewhere. Why not invest those dollars where they
will help your child’s school fundraiser program
without disturbing your weekly or monthly budget.
The
most frequently asked question is, With your delicious,
high protein/low-carb quality meats, delivered to
my home and the cost per portion is so affordable,
how does T.O.M.S. do it? Well the answer is simple.
First most gourmet meat companies spend millions of
dollars on catalog advertising. T.O.M.S. has no advertising
budget. Next, our margin of profit is very slim and
our overhead is very low. Our biggest expense is quality
USDA inspected meats aged for 21 days, beautifully
trimmed and vacuum wrapped, flash frozen at 40? below
zero. It’s simply the best quality meats available
in America today with satisfaction guaranteed. Our
next biggest expense is shipping and handling. The
proper shipping container, dry ice and prompt delivery
by Federal Express or UPS is very important. T.O.M.S.
has done everything that over 40 years of experience
can do to make this program affordable.
For
the first time ever, you now have a fundraiser where
you can enjoy an income on each order and a residual
income from reorders that is ongoing week after week,
month after month, and year after year for your club,
school or organization. You help us get started and
we will do all the rest.
Another
Benefit:
•
The One Minute Shopper is great for gift giving because
it’s affordable. T.O.M.S. has been called the
most thoughtful gift that anyone could give or receive.
Most
people can participate in this helpful fundraising
program so enjoy it and good luck. Thank you….and
enjoy good fundraiser sales!

fundraiser today, contact Ken Cherry at 1-800-284-4899

Pet Parade Fundraising
Why have a regular fashion show when you can give it
a twist? Create a fun event for local kids by hosting
a pet pageant. Find an animal-friendly locale (try a
local park), and recruit students to show off their
pets on the "runway" one weekend afternoon.
You can concentrate your publicity on local grade schools
or PTAs. Have judges award prizes (you can make sashes,
or stick to catnip and bones) in lots of different categories:
Silliest Pet, Slimiest Pet, Sleepiest Pet (you get the
picture).

FACT |

Booster Factoid of the month-
Booster Club Structure: In a recent survey a sad
fact appeared that showed less than 24% of booster
clubs were actually registered with their state
corporation commission.
Quote
of the month-
Strong feelings do not necessarily make a strong
character. The strength of a man is to be measured
by the power of the feelings he subdues not by the
power of those which subdue him.
